To ensure that happens the joint coaching staff, Ians Goldsmith & Morgan engrain the philosophy ‘making every session count’ from the word go when a player joins the club. It is so vital that the Academy accept this ethos because without it they will not
fulfill their potential and make the step-up and run out for the Cornish All Blacks in front of ‘Lanson Crowd at Polson.
Players are coached at a variety of levels – as a whole Cornish All Blacks squad, team, unit and individual and throughout those sessions they are fully encouraged to show their respective positional competitors what they’re about. The players are given regular feedback and analysis and opportunities to learn from experienced 1st XV players through our mentor programme.
This is backed up with a healthy, quality fixture list which comprises a mix of strong local Saturday fixtures and midweek fixtures against Premiership, National One and Representative teams or their Academies so that it gives the players opportunities to produce when it matters most – on the pitch.
It is also key that every LRFC 2nd XV player ‘ buys’ into the Cornish All Blacks at Polson and joins in club events, team socials and acts as ambassadors to the junior and mini sections of the club so that the spirit of the club and the sport is not forgotten.
